![]() Children and dogs lead the way for the May Gurney/ South West Water/ EA team en-route to Sidmouth. ![]() Marathon runners Nigel, Kevin and Daryl. Thank you!A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part on Saturday, it was a fantastic day and the event was a great success. Although hot and tired, everyone who took part completed it safely. We managed to get teams on 53 of the 70 sections of the 630 mile South West Coast Path. Over 600 people took part. There were 140 teams registered. 19 companies very kindly sponsored sections of path as well as May Gurney and South West Water being main event sponsors. One team ran a marathon of three sections of the coast path, from Padstow to Newquay, where they were greeted by the town crier! Humphrey the camel walked a section from Westward Ho to Clovelley and amused passers by on the way! >> Watch a slide show of the 2007 event We had participants from all over England, Scotland, Wales and even teams from Ghana and Nigeria! Walking for water is the key theme of Coast Along. The distance walked or run by most Coast Along participants is similar to the daily routine for millions of women and children in Africa and Asia just to satisfy the basic human need for water. We are hoping to at least match the £50,000 raised by Coast Along 2005 - enough money to provide a lasting supply of safe water or effective sanitation to over 3,300 of the poorest people in the world. Please send you sponsorship monies as soon as you can too: Free Post: RRAC-SKYY-KGUB Thank you all once again for making this, the second Coast Along for WaterAid, such a great success. At this stage, we hope the next event will take place in 2009. We trust you will want to repeat your experience and join us again then!
