The fifth Coast Along will take place on Saturday 10 September 2011 – join us and let’s get walking for water!

Happy Coast Along for WaterAid walkers!

Millions of people around the world have no choice but to walk for hours every day to collect essential water for themselves and their families.  This water is often dirty and causes deadly diseases.

Help us to transform lives by taking part in Coast Along for WaterAid, our national sponsored walking event. This year, Coast Along is bigger and better than ever and now includes nearly 250 sections of coastal path.

For the first time, we have included the Isle of Wight, Llyn Peninsular, Suffolk and Heath and many more paths so don’t miss out!

Also for the first time, we have introduced new Circular walks in Cardiff Bay and the South Downs. See below for more details.

To complete the challenge we are aiming to have at least one team of walkers (minimum two walkers) on each section of path on 10 September – but we need your help to make this happen.

Why not take this opportunity to spend time with your friends, family or work colleagues and take in the beauty of Britain’s coastline while raising vital funds for WaterAid:

  • The scenery is spectacular so you are guaranteed a fantastic day out
  • The sections are between 4 and 15 miles in length.
  • Each section is graded as easy, moderate, strenuous or severe, so you can choose a path that suits your level of fitnes
  • There really is something for everybody: for families, ramblers, long distance walkers and even marathon runners!

You can start at anytime that suits you and your team on 10 September.  Why not make a day of it and have a picnic along the way, indulge in a cream tea or the traditional sea side meal of fish and chips?!

New Circular walks!
An exciting new edition to this year is the introduction of circular walks.  Here you will have the opportunity to come and walk together with other WaterAid supporters.  These will be taking place around the stunning Seven Sisters Country Park in the South Downs (between Brighton and Eastbourne and within easy reach of London), and around buzzy, brilliant Cardiff Bay. For these walks you do not have to register as part of a team but can register as an individual.

Be part of our flagship walking event and help us to raise over £150,000 for WaterAid so we can help bring safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation to 10,000 more people. It is FREE to register! All we ask is that each team member raises a minimum of £50 for WaterAid, with children raising whatever they can.

To help, we encourage each team to set up an online fundraising page. You will also receive quick and easy fundraising ideas from our experienced Event Fundraising Team.
